The primary location of this position is the Killian Annex of the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
This position is primarily responsible for the operational management of the Student Accounts Office.
The Student Accounts Manager works with and supervises a team of front-line accounting and cashier support personnel dedicated to managing, analyzing, and providing customer support for student financial activities.
This position has direct oversight of Student Account policies and procedures necessary to maintain accounting controls, adherence to oversight requirements, and proper separation of duties within the unit.
Leading through example, this position cultivates a customer friendly environment that supports students, parents, and campus partners seeking assistance with student account information and services.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Managing the invoicing/billing, collection, reconciliation, and reporting of various types of student account balances and payments.
Providing excellent customer service to students, parents, and campus partners in relation to these balances and related activities.
Analyzing and problem solving, effectively communicating solutions by phone, email, or face-to-face on issues arising from student ledger postings and student financial services.
Overseeing the administrative objectives of the Student Accounts Office by directing its daily activities and managing its support staff.
Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of standard operating procedures, checklists, forms, and other resources.
Assisting in oversight and management of student accounts receivable reporting, billing, payment plans and collections.
Working with reporting agencies and adhering to all federal and state requirements surrounding the collection of past due student debt.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, public administration, or related business area; or Associate’s degree and two years of administrative, business, or financial management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications Previous accounting and/or customer service experience in higher education.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Previous supervisory experience.
Experience with Banner Accounts Receivable and Banner Finance.
