Climate Reference Network (USCRN) to support the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).
The NOAA U.
S.
Climate Reference Network shall:
Develop, maintain, and operate the suite of USCRN software that conducts data acquisition, ingest, quality control, processing, access, and archive functions.
Develop new software and maintain existing software to ensure effective and robust data ingest, quality control, data access, and archival of USCRN environmental data and products.
Perform configuration management tasks for ensuring software baseline maintenance and change control, security compliance, operational effectiveness, and compatibility between applications and host server environments.
Develop new software and perform maintenance on existing software for the USCRN shared software code base which supports database queries; data ingest, interaction with higher-level applications, and update to acquire new data streams as needed.
Operate and maintain USCRN OpenDCS application for data ingest and issue identification and tracking systems (Trac, Exceptions List, etc.
) for maintaining continuity and reliability of USCRN raw data ingest and for operations recordkeeping.
Develop and maintain software and associated libraries to ensure USCRN website content remains up-to-date, complies with all security requirements, and meets USCRN program manager requirements for user community access to current data and information.
Maintain the USCRN Station Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) station monitoring system required for knowledge of operational status, and problem detection and notification.
Provide subject matter expertise, modify existing applications, and conduct software development to support the migration of USCRN systems to the Cloud.
Provide software engineering services for meeting the needs of USCRN scientists, and NCEI's customer support function
Develop or modify software for meeting the needs of USCRN scientists.
Fulfill requests for USCRN data for scientists and other users.
Integrate both modified and new quality control algorithms into USCRN software for improved functionality and performance
Develop and implement software tools and improved quality control algorithms for meeting USCRN soil science requirements for soil moisture and temperature measurement data.
Plan and conduct tests for verifying that systems and software meet their design requirements, and ensure all project software are properly documented and archived in the Git repository.
In response to requirements from users and managers, modernize the USCRN website software for improved look and feel of both static and dynamic content, including the incorporation of dynamic map contents displaying observations in near real time
Provide host agreement management support, environmental assessments, and data analysis for the USCRN Program.
Conduct environmental assessment activities for Alaska and other USCRN stations as required by the USCRN project manager.
Maintain continuity of site host relations for existing USCRN stations located in the U.
S.
, and help maintain the two local USCRN stations.
Serve as the point of contact for USCRN Site Land Agreements (SLAs), communications with NOAA's Real Property office, site hosts, and resolving SLA issues USCRN sites.
Coordinate USCRN station data quality control processes, and perform data examination and analysis as required.
Support photo metadata activities of USCRN, including quality control of site photos, analysis of conditions at stations, and quarterly reviews of station health with USCRN Science lead
Support USCRN science and administrative activities with GIS tools, including map creation and support.
Manage metadata and repositories for the USCRN Program
Collect, inventory, quality control, scan, upload, index, research, and maintain records for station-based meteorological networks.
Experience:
1 - 5 years of experience
BS degree in related field
MUST be a US Citizen
