Maybe as old as from the late 1890's? Or early 1900's? I inherited it from an elderly person who was in a home from the late 1800's quite awhile ago.
If you like items with history instead of made by the millions in China, this might be for you.
Measurements are: 25.
5" wide, 13" deep and 8" tall.
Has 'Cowhide Warranted' etched into it, as well as the numbers 459 and 26 etched into the leather on the sides of the writing.
I have conditioned the leather with a high quality product I purchased online in the past few years.
The lock mechanism is solid brass.
The carry handle part is affixed with brass also and thus works and the suitcase can be carried.
The handle is leather also and still intact.
I don't have the key, however.
Very unusual deep grooves in the leather.
There used to be straps around it originally and you can see where they were.
Has the perfect look for rustic, farmhouse, cottage, travel, or so many other decor themes.
Would also make a great photo prop.
It is much blacker than my photos show it.
Took them in bright sunlight.
