Job Position: K/1 - 5th Grade Youth Mentor/Program Staff (Summer)

It’s a calling! At the heart of our Boys and Girls Club are youth development professionals, who impart positive values that children and teens take with them into their communities and their futures.
Our summer program is exceptionally a special and fun time for our staff and members.
Summer memories and unforgettable relationships are made and are the premises of a strong foundation for all of our members and staff.
This is a great opportunity for our college students coming home during their summer breaks along with school teachers and staff who are looking for a summer job.
Summer Club hours are 9am-5:30pm.

Plan, implement, supervise, mentor and evaluate kids activities provided in specific Boys and Girls Club program areas, such as Education, Arts, Sports Fitness & Recreation, Character & Leadership, Specialized Initiatives.

*Responsibilities:* Prepare Children for Success · Practice and Implement the Mission Statement and Our Core Values · Deliver a range of Elementary School programs and high-yield activities that are fun, creative, engaging, instructional, and incorporate team-building skills.
· Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Early Childhood Development Outcomes – What Kids Need to Succeed.
· Supervise members in the program areas; ensure safety of members, positive values, positive and ethical behavior by providing quality programming and maintain appearance of the Club at all times.
· Promote and stimulate program participation and offer recognition for positive behavior.
· Provides guidance and serves as a positive role model at all Club, local and national events.
· Deal effectively with members concerning behavior and discipline issues.
· Provide feedback for continuous program quality improvement.
· Focus on maintaining a safe, positive, controlled atmosphere for all youth.
· Exhibit a warm, concerned, mature attitude toward youth that uses a positive approach in dealing with individuals as well as group settings.
· Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
· Attend professional training events as scheduled.
· May participate in special programs and/or events.
*Qualifications:* · High School Diploma/GED · Demonstrated ability to relate with children, parents and community leaders · Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated capacity to be a mature team player · Ability to be flexible, adaptable and mobile when supervising groups of kids · CPR and First Aid Certification · Ability to work with a team of staff and hold your fellow staff members accountable · Implement quality programs for Elementary aged children · Culturally sensitive and mission-driven in all interactions.
Valuing diversity is a must · Must pass criminal background checks and drug screen · Minimum of 6 months experience working directly with school-aged youth and knowledge of youth development is required *Benefits:* Living Wage Certified Employer Flexible schedule Opportunities for advancement Paid on-the-job training Starting $16.
40/hour – Part-time *Physical Requirements/Work Environment:* Physical requirements include some physical exertion such as lifting, stretching and bending in Club setting and can include sitting and standing for long periods.
Will include walking/guiding/escorting kids to and from areas and field trips.
Will require interaction with youth 6-11 years old and can be noisy at times.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal Pay: From $16.
