The position has the opportunity for up to 40% remote work from the Cullowhee, NC campus or full-time remote work if occupying a residence outside a 30-mile radius in North Carolina.
The Application Developer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a range of technical solutions (primarily .
NET web applications) that originate with IT project requests.
Solutions range from performing feasibility of a new feature to standing up 3rd party software to building custom solutions within adopted frameworks.
Development duties mainly consist of creating and maintaining web applications and web services using object-oriented languages, leveraging object-relational mapping frameworks for database operations, and collaborating with other developers to develop and maintain internal frameworks.
The developer participates in all aspects of the system development life cycle — analysis, design, implementation, testing and maintenance.
Telework requirements (for candidates choosing to telework): - Must be located within a eight hour driving distance of the WCU campus in Cullowhee, NC.
- Periodic campus visits will be required.
- Most meetings will be conducted via video conference when possible so conference capabilities must be available from remote work location.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in application development; or a Bachelor’s degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in application development; or an Associate’s degree in computer programming and three years of experience in application development: or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

NET application development using MVC Preferred Qualifications Experience developing secure and stateful web applications using .
NET Core, Blazor, SignalR and Microsoft Identity platform (Azure AD; OAuth; OpenID Connect).
Experience interacting and building data structures within a variety of DBMS (SQL Server; Oracle; Azure SQL) using ORM frameworks such as Entity and Dapper.
Experience developing secure RESTful web services and applications using Microsoft’s MVC and Web API patterns.
Experience deploying and managing applications and complementary developer resources within Azure (e.
g.
Azure DevOps, App Services, Key Vault, etc.
