For sale is a unique open back 5 string banjo made by Mac Traynham, a master luthier from Willis, VA.

) Besides being a top quality instrument from the hand of a master craftsman (and musician) this banjo is unique for its size.
Its scale is just 21 inches and the nut width (neck width at the nut) a mere 1.
25 inches.
The pot is a standard 11”.
But the short scale makes it easy to play for those with smaller hands or bodies.
Which is not to say that it’s too small for those who are regularly sized.
It has a sweet, clear, bell-like tone with more than adequate volume for jamming.
Instead of a scoop it has a “channel” on the fretboard by the last 7 frets — really great for clawhammer! (See photo) It comes in a vintage case that will make others believe that you have a really old banjo, but it’s really only about 6 years old.
I love it! But I’m selling because I need to “cull the herd” and this is one I seldom play.
